Making Darmstadt sound appealing is both easy and difficult. At first glance the “Science City” in the middle of the Rhine-Main conurbation appears somewhat more modest than its big sisters Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Mainz. Yet as soon as you leave the motorway, you begin to realise that you are entering a tremendously multifaceted and endearing metropolis well worth living in.
